Following the philosophy of the world renowned pedagogue and humanitarian, Shin’ichi Suzuki, the faculty at the Western Springs School of Talent Education and the Naperville Suzuki School have been enriching the lives of children through the study of music for thirty years.
WSSTE and the NSS enjoy a reputation for excellence that is well-known throughout the world. We offer instruction in violin, viola, and cello. Our teaching follows the philosophy and principles of the world renowned pedagogue, Shinichi Suzuki.

Our faculty is comprised of highly trained professional musicians who have selected Suzuki teaching as their chosen profession. All faculty have a bachelor’s degree in music performance or music education and are extensively trained in the Suzuki method. Many of our faculty hold the master of music performance degree with emphasis in Suzuki pedagogy.

In addition to teaching young children, the school is also a national training center for teachers who wish to learn how to teach the Suzuki method. Our faculty includes four of the country’s leading teacher trainers. Teachers travel from as far away as Europe and South America to study and observe lessons at our schools.

The Chaparral MusicFest Suzuki Academy fills a need within the Southwest community for an affordable Suzuki Institute for violin and piano students. Parents are able to see Suzuki teaching in action through observation of their children’s lessons and classes, experience the Suzuki philosophy at work, and gain reinforcement from other parents. Teachers have the opportunity to take SAA (Suzuki Association of the Americas) approved teacher training courses, observe students studying with expert guest clinicians, and gain insights into their own teaching.

Blue Lake Suzuki Family Camp is designed as an opportunity for families to learn and play together following the teaching of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Families stay in rustic cabins on the campus of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in the Manistee National Forest in Michigan. Wood chip paths lead the families to the lesson buildings; concerts take place in a covered open air theatre overlooking the lake.
Parent volunteers are an integral part of the Blue Lake experience providing a wide variety of extra activities for parents and students alike. The “Art Barn”, a separate building on camp, is devoted to art activities where the students have the opportunity to delve into art exploration whenever there is a break in the schedule of lessons and practice. There are 4 or 5 different projects to try each day.

Blue Lake Suzuki Family Camp is designed as an opportunity for families to learn and play together following the teaching of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. The Suzuki Talent Education Program in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada is a non-profit charitable organization which has been part of the St. John’s arts community for over 25 years. Suzuki Talent Education is a music-education philosophy by which teachers and parents help children learn to play an instrument by the same method that they learn to speak their native language. In St. John’s, we have about 100 violin, viola and cello students who follow the Suzuki curriculum; some also learn Newfoundland fiddling or perform in the award-winning junior or senior orchestras. The Columbus Suzuki Piano Workshops are for teacher training only. Teachers will come and observe real studio lessons as part of their training. Students of Mary Craig Powell, as well as a few other local students, will be used for the observation of teaching.
